It seems DJI will not be making an announcement on July 18th after all. They are saying they need more time. Is it some sort of marketing 3D chess... or some sort of issue? I guess we will wait and see.

Below is a message from DJI about it...

Thank you for RSVP’ing for the ‘See the Bigger Picture’ event on July 18th. Today we are making the difficult decision to push back the event. DJI is committed to introducing the most high-quality, cutting-edge technology in the market. We will postpone ‘See the Bigger Picture’ so we can deliver according to our standard of innovation. User experience is our top priority, and we wanted to ensure we can exceed our customers’ expectations for our technology by the time of the event. Please stay tuned for more information. Thank you for your continued interest and support.

well, the good side is that they will not put a half finished product on the shelfs... at least i hope so.
would be a big step to „really“ have us in mind...
although i find it frustrating that what i believe and is speculation that my I1 controler USB, HDMI module died one after another so i had to send them in for repair costing me a 100bucks each... plus the service fee... i just can not believe that there is not messed with software to „get corrupted“ after X amount of time.
just my 2c

That's because of the launch of the RX100M6. ;)
Yeah that’s what seems to happen when you own the company that makes the sensors and want to release a camera that takes the same sensor that everyone in the drone industry needs right now. Lol. Idk if that is what dji is waiting on or not but that is my best guess for the time being. I know autel is waiting on them for the other evo line.

I can’t believe the delay is product/sensor/camera related. One week in advance of the scheduled announcement they cancel? Only 3DR does that sort of thing...over and over. . The production alone would have started long before they even announced the event. Maybe waiting to see what is in Trump’s announced next round of China tariffs?

Doubtful it is a production issue. More likely something like patent infringement or who knows what. This was just the announcement not the availability date.

Everyone seems to think this is a Mavic 2 but the teaser lends itself to a 360* capture platform. What do you guys think?

I think it's just a marketing ploy designed to keep buyers at bay so they don't loose Mavic 2 or whatever is planed buyers. It can't be related to Trump tariffs as they have been in the works for quite a while and the announcement of the DJI event came way after tariff were announced. In DJIs defense, at least if they do have a new product, holding off on presenting instead of rushing to market, though very unlike the DJI we know and love(?) deserves some credit. More suspect to me is their timing just as what could possibly be 2 major competitors are releasing new folding and compact camera drones.

Affordable 360 Platform or a Photogammetry rig would be good.
The lazy option is a mavic 2 with a Phantom 4 Advanced Camera which would clean up.

Based on current hardware, DJI could easily have two 180 degree 4k cameras at 100 MBPS a pop which would produce an 8k 360 video at 200mbps. That would blow all of the existing consumer grade 360 cameras out of the water, fusion, garmin etc and actually produce affordable, reasonable quality 360 video.

ATM you need to spend a lot of money to get good 360 video, DJI could change that overnight.

Personally I want to see a new spark, or mavic pro with occusync, 20mp photos, and 4k@60+100mbps.

The mavic is still quite a big drone, the spark and mavic air are pretty amazing.
They just need a wee boost to make them tools you want to take everywhere.

12mp photos and iffy transmission range do not cut it in 2018.

looks like the mp2 got outed by mistake by a retailer. 2 versions available at launch. (

Well, there ya have it. Still wonder what derailed the 18th announcement.
If you know anyone with a self yawing p4pv1 or v2, Mavic Air that does the same thing,or a Mavic Pro that does the same thing they might tell ya dji is trying to not put out another messed up drone.
