Whats our gear worth these days? Closing our aerial business down :( and having a moan

Brings back memories.. Sorry to hear about your business but glad that you are moving on. The bigger issue has always been regulation without enforcement which leads to people/companies who want to do the right thing being unfairly disadvantaged by other people/companies who do not play by the...

    UK Help me convince...

A few of quick off the cuff ideas: • Liabilities to company insurance/reputation when sh1t hits the fan as opposed to outsourced work. • Staff retention once money spent to train. • Option to change vendor at will as opposed to being stuck with particular staff or having to retrain new staff.

All it takes is one fool....

Guys.. the issue here should not be about whether birds or drones can cause more damage nor which has a higher probability or higher occurrence of downing a manned aircraft because of greater numbers or greater risk. We need bird control at airports because birds are not smart enough to steer...

    Reporting "commercial" UAV use

Back to the topic of this thread, has anyone successfully filed a report of commercial UAV use to the FAA? Care to share your experience here or via PM?

UK Whats The Point Of PFAW

Sorry if I caused any confusion. I was referring to the CAA in my country even though this thread is regarding PFAW in U.K.

UK Whats The Point Of PFAW

I too have been following up with the CAA equivalent on interpretation of regulatory requirements and confirmed that any company commissioning any aerial services from a service provider are required to verify that the vendor service provider is a permit holder which then places the urgency on...

    Inspire 2 Flyaway

Not selective but can be highly directional depending on the type of antenna system used and effective range depending on radiating power. Even if there are no report of other parties being affected, it does not mean it did not happen, it was a military vessel afterall. Unless the shoot was...

Losing Camera Picture After 70 meters

I believe the P3S is running on wifi for the Live View from the camera. In urban built-up areas with high density of wifi around, it is not surprising that the video feed will drop out in a much shorter distance.

    New FW 1.8.1.00 Issued 7 Apr 16

Looks like a genuine problem with the VPS during transformation between modes. It could be a hardware or software issue but I'm leaning towards hardware as there are many others with the latest firmware happily flying (or transforming) without issues. Normally I may suggest trying to roll back...

    New FW 1.8.1.00 Issued 7 Apr 16

Sorry just a couple of questions to help understand the situation. 1. What was the surface below the VPS when this happened? 2. When you say it went back into "flight mode", did you mean landing gear lowered or raised? 3. Is this issue still existing and repeatable now?

    Inspire 1 spec

You have lost my trust and respect.. Tsk tsk tsk :p:p now I have to check and verify everything you say. Do you know how much time that will cost me? Glad to see you are actually not a quantum computer.. Welcome back to earth ;)

    Inspire 1 spec

Prototype props indeed.. They would have to be REALLY short props :D:D Glad to hear you don't have a midget Inspire and now those who need to file paperwork have a reference dimension.

    Inspire 1 spec

I was just having a look at my own OM for my renewal and realized we have different numbers. At the risk of sounding pedantic, my numbers are quite different. My OM states the length of the craft nose to tail (front rotor tip to aft rotor tip in our case of a multirotor) as 735mm and wing/rotor...

    Flying over cliff

Thanks for pointing that part out. How does the FAR define a person, vessel, vehicle or structure? Would another aircraft such as a drone constitute as one of the above? If a drone is classified as another (unmanned) aircraft sharing the sky, I opine that it would be near impossible for the...
