I believe the P3S is running on wifi for the Live View from the camera. In urban built-up areas with high density of wifi around, it is not surprising that the video feed will drop out in a much shorter distance.

Looks like a genuine problem with the VPS during transformation between modes. It could be a hardware or software issue but I'm leaning towards hardware as there are many others with the latest firmware happily flying (or transforming) without issues. Normally I may suggest trying to roll back...
