Is the Inspire1 modification friendly? ?

True enough! Maybe some kind of generic camera mount will be released for the Inspire in the future, but if you need to affix a custom camera to a quad, a Phantom or other MR may be the best bet.

Is the Inspire1 modification friendly? ?

From the pics I've seen, there is NOT a lot of room to add anything else to the bottom of the craft if the gimbal is attached. And the front is out of the question because the compass is right there, too. Though I'm sure the motors can handle it, adding another 250-300g with gimbal attached...

Is the Inspire1 modification friendly? ?

From a strict weight perspective, you should be fine if you take off the gimbal and find a way to securely affix the S100 in a way that doesn't interfere with the optical flow sensors on the bottom. Of course, without the gimbal and camera you're giving up a lot of what makes the Inspire special...

Is the Inspire1 modification friendly? ?

They're being posted throughout the Internet and Facebook by people who have received and been flying the preproduction units for nearly a month or so now. Lots of great closeups of the body and components. I'm on mobile now but i'll post up a few links when I can.

    Cases and Transportation

I also hope there's a way to minimize the Inspire's carrying size for travel. With considerations like the 99.90WH batteries, it would make sense for the quad itself to be storable for carry-on as well.

    Control range > Video range?

Sorry, re-reading your comment below, I see you were talking about rising terrain above your take-off point, not flying at absolute "mountainous" altitude. If mountains are the concern though, I imagine you'll have clear GPS signal and not have to worry about ATTI limits.

    Control range > Video range?

It's already been established that outside of a restricted fly zone, you can already set your height limit (or not) as you wish, so you can do exactly as you describe (and all current DJI FCs use baro and height limits the same way so this isn't new or unique to the Inspire). But to be clear on...

    Control range > Video range?

That's not how the barometer works. When you power on the Inspire, the baro is zero'd to whatever altitude you are currently at. So the baro is AGL and not ASL.

Is the Inspire1 modification friendly? ?

It's been confirmed that there are no hard flight height/distance limits outside of no-fly zones. Like the P2, you can turn them off and fly as far and high as your radio/battery allow. That said, I'm thinking the Inspire isn't going to rank up there as one of the more mod-friendly multirotors...

    Control range > Video range?

The guys beta testing the Inspire have confirmed that outside of the restricted fly zones (near airports) you can turn off any flight limits, or set them as you do on the P2-series. So high flyers in open fields don't have anything to worry about.

    TB47 vs. TB48 Battery

Economically it's one thing, but don't forget to take into account the additional flight time deficit of 100g for the heavier battery. Unfortunately you never get 1:1 increase in battery capacity to flight time; in reality you are lucky to get 1:0.75 because of the added weight and overhead...

    TB47 vs. TB48 Battery

Actually, people flying preproduction Inspires with the stock 4500mah battery are already reporting the 18 min flight time claim is accurate (and we know what the p2v+ gets of course) so I think we have a good baseline at this point. We'll see when the production versions are out in December...

    TB47 vs. TB48 Battery

I've never gotten 25 minutes with a p2v+. My most conservative flying nets 18 minutes with 9443 props and 16 minutes with 9450s, on either 2212 or 2312 motors. I think the 25 minute claim is really more for a completely unloaded phantom 2. So at least for my flying, 18 real world minutes would...

    Inspire 1 Crash protection

I think it's the same as with any craft with retracts. The camera and gimbal will be vulnerable, but hard crashes would likely end up breaking your retracts and gimbal both....

    Noise?

Others flying preproduction models also say it's quieter. The big propped, low-kv motors like the e600 are definitely quieter than the 2212s and 9" props on the phantom.
