I would 100% recommend that you get in touch with DJI to at least get a repair estimate. It may not be 'cheap', depending on exactly what's broken, but you will wind up with a good-as-new (and maybe even actually new) Inspire 1.

.apk are Android files. There's pretty much no problem sideloading .apk files on Android. Dealing with anything other than what Apple decides to allow is a serious pain, though.

If it's working well, I wouldn't worry about it. Having said that, I sent a broken x5 to DJI repair - the previous owner had disassembled it and it was a real mess. A little under $400, including shipping and they sent me what appears to be a brand new one. Turnaround was pretty quick.
