The DOT and FAA have spoken!

That is correct. I think that the rules are a little lax, but it looks like the law makers were trying harder to create jobs than consider risk. There will be an enormous influx of previously illegal operators who are now legal, but still don't know what they're doing.

    Loose arms almost caused crash

Update on my end. I got my I1 back from DJI in California last week and am back flying normally again. They handled the situation very well and even replaced my Zenmuse X3 with a new Zenmuse X3. I also looked into the loose arm issue before I kept flying, and when I called DJI they said that a...

    Loose arms almost caused crash

Sorry for the delay in replying, I don't check this site too often. I have the inspire type D. My right arm also always had a little bit of play, but after checking several threads here I wasn't concerned, especially since it flew perfectly and didn't have any camera shake. However, since this...

    Loose arms almost caused crash

Thanks very much for that reply. Good to hear from someone who had a similar problem, most of the other information I found was from people complaining about vibration. I had something important that I wanted to shoot this weekend but I don't want to take the chance of repairing it myself and...

    Loose arms almost caused crash

Hey pilots, I have read up on the threads discussing loose arms on the Inspire 1, so being that one of my arms had a little play and my inspire was working fine I continued to fly my inspire. However, yesterday during a flight for some reason my inspire 1 started going out of control, suddenly...

    Commercial use issues

Carl do you know what a section is? The general and permanant laws of the United States are organized in codes and codes are further organized into sections. I showed you section 333, part of the law in the United States. I can't go any further than the end.

    Commercial use issues

I had a request from Carlsberg asking me, "So where is the law?". If the above post wasn't somehow enough, here is the actual document outlining these laws. (Which was included inside the first link anyway) https://www.faa.gov/uas/media/Sec_331_336_UAS.pdf You can lead a horse to water but you...

    Commercial use issues

I was trying to meet you half way and admit some faults of my own but if you really want to send me $1000... Here is the source direct from the FAA. https://www.faa.gov/uas/legislative_programs/section_333/ For a third party source, that explains section 333 in regards to how UAV's, while not...

    Commercial use issues

While I may be frustrated I started the thread to get a better interpretation of the current laws by the FAA. As you may have misunderstood, I am turning down business because I feel it is illegal, not because I'm not getting paid enough. I have been offered some nice change for projects that I...

    Commercial use issues

That's close to how I understood it, which would mean no one in the entire United states could fly commercially unless given an exception by the FAA, which Seems to be very exclusive. So what do we do regarding all of these illegal operations while business gets stolen from us law abiding...

    Commercial use issues

Hello all, I have seen several commercial posts here so I thought I could get some good feedback. Currently, my understanding is that the FAA prohibits the use of drones for commercial use unless you have been given a 333 exemption, and in order to qualify you must be a licensed pilot and even...
