Very interesting - didn't even think to blame the rubber mounts. I've had this happen (at a much less effect) for summer shoots. Haven't noticed this in winter shoots. Wonder if there are any other factors that contribute.

Not so sure I'd buy a grad filter as the ND part of the filter is only on the top. This makes it interesting for any tilting you would do. I guess I'm relating it to how I shoot so if it works for you then done! Here's my suggestion as far as brand quality goes but there are several other brands...

Another concern (for stills or video) is that you shoot RAW. This should give you the most dynamic range.

I use an ND.60. I recommend this 2-stop filter as the least you'll need depending on how much depth of field you're looking for. ND6 should allow you to shoot at f11/16 with zero clipping in sun-lit clouds. If you're looking for less DOF then go with something heavier. The main concern with...
