    CineSSD Reader

Interesting. Didn’t know the thunderbolt reader was still available. The UG2 claim is questionable because the limiting factor would be the same USB 3 interface.

    CineSSD Reader

The thunderbolt reader is long discontinued. They were difficult to find by 2020. And like many of the specialty items they sold for the I2 system it seems they made relatively few. Your only hope at this point is a used one. With the I3 out and pros migrating over it’s likely we’ll see some of...

    CineSSD Reader

The thunderbolt 3 reader is significantly faster. With good/fast storage on the computer side an entire 480GB card could be transferred in under two minutes.

    Firmware V01.02.0600

This is a well documented issue. DJI will never ‘fix’ this. They consider it a feature and means to reduce their liability. The only true solution is to revert to an earlier firmware.

    i3 insane height limit?

This change was made a short while ago starting with the Mavic 3. Maybe other mavics- not sure about that. And it’s very useful. If you’re in a deep canyon, slot canyon, a cliff face or other unusual topography where the terrain extends high above your takeoff point this is a valuable feature...

I3 will be released in February 2023

Things got a little delayed. Classic DJI. Announcement on April 13th. It's a great machine. Was on the beta team. Enjoy!

    SkyWatch insurance

Akutan- interesting place. Haven't filmed there but have been out to Attu. Flew in on a Coast Guard C130. Otherworldly place. I guess many of the Aleutians are. Good luck with your I2.

I3 will be released in February 2023

I3 release date is sometime Feb 2023. Possibly March. Totally new, tall slim-line travel case. Will not use TB50 batts, unfortunately. New battery system with totally new charge hubs that have fold down ‘plates’ on each side and high output USB-C power taps. Hopefully we get some faster DL...

    Mavic 3 confession

M3 cine is a great machine in many ways and a good compliment to I2. But it for sure has issues, like noise. Exposure has to be dead on, which is made all the more difficult because of the well documented zebra/histo exposure bugs in D-Log. Even with optimal exposure many shots require de-noise...

Freefly ASTRO - anyone flying one?

I'm not a stills photographer so I can't speak to that. The Astro might actually be a great platform for stills. The A7R4 is certainly a fantastic stills camera and the issues of video lag and gimbal stability don't matter nearly as much. All of the I3 info I've seen thus far is from leaks and...

Freefly ASTRO - anyone flying one?

I have flown one and I was not impressed. First and foremost it is not an equivalent or competitor to an Inspire 2. It might be adequate for mapping but it's absolutely not a cinema machine in any way. Its Herelink controller is like a toy and the video transmission latency/quality is poor. Very...

Seller's beware of fraud when selling drones in the classifieds.

Thanks for your post, man. Very good info. Also watch out for a guy who goes by Nathan Wisdom in Connecticut. Another scam artist.

So my whole city is a military zone now???

Donnie, as you well know, maybe more than anyone, you can never, ever, ever let the iPad connect to WiFi. Never, ever. You have to be as vigilant about this as a special ops guy in a war zone... LOL Now, that said, I've had almost the exact same thing happen... Maddening. Anyway, you already...

    Inspire 2 EOL

Agreed. The I2 has been an incredible platform. While many DP's will always want to fly the body and glass they prefer, in my part of the world between budget and practical considerations we fly our heavy lift systems less and less with the I2 being the preference for production over 70% of the...
