Anyone capturing building 3D models?

Do you capture oblique photos to get better results? If so what high and low oblique angles do you use?

We have been running some of our experiments on an old building and the difference between using obliques vs not using obliques is night and day!

Assuming you're shooting photogrammetry only (not using LiDAR)...

I generally shoot all my missions nadir. But whenever there are flat, featureless surfaces like asphalt or water, I will amend the day's photos with oblique shots along those roadways and/or over waterways. Since asphalt is usually a roadway (sometimes a parking lot), I will build a two flight line corridor mission that covers said road out and back. Depending on the software you use, the angle can be notated as "15°" (which is above or "forward" of nadir). Or notated as "75°," which is below horizon. Some programs consider nadir 0°. Others consider the horizon 0°. This combination of nadir and oblique over roadways, parking lots and water features should net good results for photogrammetry.

UPDATE: I see you specifically mentioned "buildings," which I forgot to include in my reply. But, yes, we use the same shooting strategy for buildings.

As the other person said I fly nadir and capture obliques of the sides of buildings or of roadways and trees. I find this really helps with the final model
