Got an interesting Inspire return/repair. It looks like the motors burned off... Has anyone had similar?
Well at least we know what color the motors are now when they are naked :p.
Why on earth the esc didn't give out and destroy its FET's before that happened I don't know!

Got an interesting Inspire return/repair. It looks like the motors burned off... Has anyone had similar?

That person ran the motors to long on a hot day. Or it shorted like hooking the neg and pos together. I dont know why dji doesnt give you a heat detector with your purchase. Lol. I have not seen that before btw. Nice post!

But the thing is, it looks like the motors stayed running after the initial separation.

That is very strange. The motor should have died if it shorted. I wonder if the melting was caused in the final decent. That is if the bird didnt crash. I burn a lot of battery in landing. So if the motor was on its last leg of a long flight it could have overheated during landing. Lasting long enough before it burned through the brace fully. That is some resistant plastic.
