Hello, I bought an inspire 1 from a family member. It flies and works great, other than that it won't change into travel or flight mode (My uncle just manually uses the screw driver and changes it into travel mode when he packs it). Interestingly it will come OUT of travel mode and extend the legs so I can attach the camera, so that electric motor seems to be working.

Any idea what it is?

What is the regimen you are trying to get it into travel mode? Hint: There are two methods. Have you tried them both?

Assuming you HAVE tried both methods, does she make any noise?

I've tried operating the lever on the controller 4 times, and i've tried from the display clicking "enter travel mode". The light turns blue, and it will say "landing gear raising". You can hear the motor spinning up, but the landing gear doesn't move.

After some research, my guess is its the little brass gear on the shaft of the motor. I started tearing it down last night, but got stuck at the two main screws that hold the center frame in, HOLY COW those are on there tight.

Sounds like you are on the right track. That worm gear gets stripped. So it's either the gear itself or the nut that it operates.
