I use to be big into ELETRIC helicopters. More so building them than flying them to be honest. Built these two from kits and sold them when i got out of the hobby. Miss it sometimes. Anyone else ever fly these big boys?

I flew a Baron 50 gasser and a smaller Cricket gasser. After building my Baron 50, I remember a company (can't remember which one) releasing this new invention called a "gyro sensor." This was the precursor to today's IMU's and Flight Controllers with a myriad of built-in sensors. That thing was a beast to fly. I never did master it. What I wouldn't give to go back in time and fly that beast now. My skill levels are orders of magnitude better than when I was in my 20s.

Here's a photo of one I grabbed off the Internet. I have actual hard copy photos of my Baron 50 that I would have to scan.

I remember the "OMG!" feeling I got the first time I was able to actually let go of the joysticks on my Phantom 1. I couldn't believe that I could actually just set down the controller and the bird would stay in place. Amazing!

I have 4 different collective pitch helicopters. One small electric, one larger gas powered monster and two nitro powered . I fly the small electric quite a bit. The other ones are loud and intimidating to fly so haven’t had them flying in a couple years. Gotten pretty good with the little heli, can do loops rolls and hover inverted with it. Also have a fleet of 5 airplanes and several foamy electric planes.

Nice! My first Align heli was a 500. Relatively cheap to fix. 450 are a great heli. I loved flying my big birds. Wish i still had the videos of mine.

Love those old school birds but I’d never want to fly one. Much harder to fly i assume.
