New Battery Firmware

I have just purchased a new battery and i am not sure which firmware to flash it with? Do i even need to put firmware on the card or will it just update when i put it in the AC and turn it on?

The current firmware which includes an update for the battery is 1.4.0.10.

Not "Obviously" since for example there were no firmware updates for the controller in one of the updates so we had to use an older firmware to update a newly purchased controller.

No, must have been old stock because it did update but good point.
