New Firmware 09/07 and Tablets

Can someone inform me if i need for all those new functions a GPS in The Tablet ?
Because my Ipad Mini 2 16Gb Wifi does not have a GPS but my Android Nvidia Shield has a GPS. But i do not like the Android App. The Android App is missing a lot what the IOS App has ...

The POI and waypoint features do not require GPS on your device. GPS is only needed if you want to reset the home point to your current position. And, it'll be needed if DJI ever adds the follow me feature.

I heard that the controller has a gps antenna in it? is that not true? Ive seen people complaining of large tablets mounted to the controller causing gps signal blockage.

And What about the orbit mode. Flying and filming a certain object ?
The follow me is implemented for the P3 and not for the Inspire 1

i believe it just orbits a stationary point on the map.
