Possible to connect wireless from DJI remote to Android phone?

Inspire 1 playing around with the Litchi App inside a Google Cardboard v2. Just wondering if there is anyway to connect the Android to the DJI remote without using the USB cable? Just seems like it would be nice if no USB cable was needed. This question goes for both Litchi and for DJI Go App.

That doesn't connect directly to the R/C though which is what the OP asked.
Also, what about the latency? No way I would want to fly a 3kg aircraft via WiFi tether through a second device!!!!!

Assuming you are thinking of something like this but they don't come with microUSB connector and there is no evidence this kit will work for the RC -- it would depend on what kind of USB device the RC claims itself to be when connecting to a computer/phone.

So my issue is when trying to use the VR app, the usb cable wont allow my phone to connect to my gear VR glasses. Kind of makes the VR part of litchi useless. Am I missing something?
