Remote control dies in few seconds

Hello everyone.

I have one gl658a remote control. It was working fine. But today,
After I push the power button, the LEDs are turning on (white), then in few seconds, the remote will dies.
I suspected maybe the problem is the battery.
I opened the remote, battery looks fine (but 7 years old) and the voltage is 8.50 volts.

I really appreciate your help.

If I were you? I would connect the balance plug of the battery to a battery checker ( "battery doctor" or similar). I would then turn the transmitter on and observe how the individual cells behave. That way I would know if the TX battery is OK or NOT.
