I bought a Inspire 1 with 3.1.0 Sw installed and have flown it with no problems.

Questions;
1. What do I gain by updating?
2. Does the new Sw have NFZ limitations that will restrict how I fly?

You stand to gain little with FW upgrades from DJI as v1.4 was the most movement forward. They are always creating new NFZ limitations as everything now lights up as a potential...who knows what.

When do the firmware with NFZ limitations kick in?

Based on data from DJI via the GO app...they can render just about anything a green NFZ...there is a helipad and a solar farm down the street from me. I can fly but it gives notice.
