They should attach wings to that AirBIRD (just like the Monarch) in order to generate some lift. That way you wouldn't need so much power on the towing craft. Actually the Monarch seems a much better solution, but not sure if the magnetometer can have an engine close by.

As far as I know, you will need to input individual waypoints, not aware of auto grid capability in Litchi. Suggested it more as a solution for video & pictures. ;)

You could try Litchi waypoints and record a video of the mission or set it to automatically take a shot at each waypoint. Litchi for DJI Phantom/Inspire
