I agree that there is no way this can compete with the Inspire for image quality - that's the price you pay for portability. But it looks like the Mavic's image quality is equal to the P4 when RAW stills are compared side by side: Not sure how the video will compare though.

I think the problem is that DJI shipped out pre-production units to media folks with no documentation or instructions of any kind. The guys from Flight Test make a point of saying they received the drone, controller, battery and charger all bubble-wrapped in a box. No packaging, no instructions...

Video looks much better when focused correctly. Am I right?

I have looked at 3-4 sample videos and they all look pretty soft. The DigitalRev samples look "OK" with some decent color corrections but still not super sharp or with good detail. The Casey Neistat sample looks truly horrible. I love the portability, the design and the features...but not the...

I was able to watch the video before it got pulled. Lots of tech and features especially when compared to the Go Pro Karma. But no details on the camera or sensor or bit rates. Guess we will find out in half an hour.

We have no plans to stay or fly in busy areas as our time will be split between Ko Yao Noi and Krabi. Ko Yao is pretty quiet and isolated, and while Krabi is more popular I don't think it will be super crowded, and certainly nothing like Bangkok.

Hey Jonathan, I upgraded to a Mac Pro this year to process 4k XAVC-S files from my Sony A7rII. This system has 6 cores, and dual D700 video cards and a bunch of RAM. I also added a 12TB Pegasus drive. I have been able to process and playback files real time in DaVinci Resolve with no problems...
