Much appreciate you PMing me <DJI-Pilot-v???.apk (17Apr2015) - 43.6mb>. For your records, this is DJI-Pilot v1.0.10. Thanks again IIIDaemon!!

To The Editor: Yes, you did....and thank you again. I put out the word to several forum members simultaneously and 3 responded positively. I wasn't sure who would actually have the file or not and I was just covering my bases. I also wanted to let IIIDaemon know the version number of the file he sent since it seemed as though he might not, judging by the "v???" in the file name. Sorry for any confusion, and again, thanks for sending the file! :)

I tried 1.0.7 on my android m8 and I went out to 500m with no video break up, then the app crashed! Luckily I restarted it and got everything back. What version will give me all the channels 32 and will not crash!

Never had an iOS app crash but the range is now crap for video.

Hi.
Are you kind enough to give me the best app on your own opinion?
I'm currently downgraded to app android 1.0.7
But I think the best is 1.0.10?
Please let me try one of those.
My email? [email protected]
Thanks

I'm at work currently, but when I get home I'll look for that version. However, you might have already received it from IIIDaemon by then.

Also, I have finished testing of the iOS version of DJI GO on my iPad Air 2. The final test was 3 back-to-back flights under very hot and humid conditions (at least for my location) and it performed flawlessly. The DJI GO app was running all the time and only disconnected during battery changes. It automatically reconnected when the new battery was powered up. It also had no trouble recording the 720p LightBridge downlink in real time while showing me the video with no noticeable lag, skips or freezes. BTW, the recording was perfect and, other than being lower resolution than the 4K video recorded onboard the Inspire, would have been totally usable for editing. The Android version was never able to do that and when I disabled Google Play like some have suggested, it killed the mapping and flight path function. Useless IMO. Under the same environmental conditions running the Android DJI GO app on a Samsung Galaxy S Tablet 8.4, I only got through about 1.3 batteries before the dreaded lag and ultimate freeze and crash happened. Just like before, restarting the app did not fix it and you had to reboot the tablet. So for me at least, the conclusions are obvious.

Downgrade the version of Google play services on your android and it won't crash anymore. It's been upgraded since the app was created and the new version causes the issue. Even on the new version of the app cause dji used the old version when they wrote it.

Well, that is definitely not true for my Android device. I totally disabled Google Play Services and the problem still happened as before. In addition to that, the mapping display no longer functioned. As soon as I re-enabled Google Play Services, the maps came back. So for some of us, that "remedy" doesn't work.

Don't disable, downgrade to previous version. It's needed for the maps, that's why it crashes with the new version, or no version.
I'll give that a try, but I've been so happy with the increased reliability and functionality of the iOS version, I'll probably stick with it anyway. Even before this freezing and crashing issue, the Android version was always very laggy for me. With the iOS version, I can barely perceive any lag or reduced frame rate at all. But I will test your suggestion for sure.

You are absolutely correct. I downgraded Google Play Services (GPS) to the base version instead of disabling it, and it seems to have solved the freezing and crashing issue. While this certainly fixes the immediate problem and makes the Android device usable, after doing an A-B comparison with the iPad, I think that on balance, the iPad with the iOS version of DJI GO is the better choice, at least for me.

The iOS version of DJI GO appears to correlate the map information for the flight records screen very quickly compared to the Android version. Also, evidently, the zebra stripe overexposure overlay is only available on the iOS version. I find this feature very handy as I have used it for years on all my professional video cameras. Additionally, the flight timeline indicator that appears on the main display during flight is replicated on the flight record playback screen. This screen also shows vertical speed, horizontal speed, altitude, distance, battery level, photo mode, and gimbal tilt. The only metrics show during playback on the Android version are flight time, flight distance, and maximum height. Again, for a dedicated photo/video person, this is good information. I also find that the framing rate and smoothness of the downlinked image is better on the iOS version of the app.

Finally, if you want to use your Android device as anything other than the interface for your DJI quadrotor, you will need to be constantly downgrading and upgrading GPS because many Google services such as gmail, Google Hangouts, Google Music, Google Maps and others will only function with the latest version of GPS.

Thanks again for pointing out that the Android version can be made far more usable by downgrading the GPS app. For those folks that want to hang on to their Android device as the interface for their DJI product, this is great information.

Do you still need an older version of the Android app?. If so, let me know which version you need and I will PM it to you if I have it.

has anyone tried an older version of the app and can confirm if it gives extra range? :)
.
...Alex, I Cannot Confirm Range, however for what ever its worth I think the Mp4 Video Processor is Better in DJI-Pilot-v120 than in DJI-Go-v281.., v282 just seemed to have too many bugs and I haven't tried v283 as of yet...

...Also in ref to Older versions of the DJI-Go App, web-site, APKpure has a good selection going back to v261 (was v260..? seems they're only keeping avail 10ea versions, grab'm while you can), they also use open & close paren for some versions of the DJI-Go app, I cannot confirm if this is Actual 'DJI' Build Numbers or Not i.e. DJI-Go-v282(59) , DJI-Go-v282(60)...
