I need to recalibrate vision sensors thru the Assistant software. I’ve downloaded it without any antivirus etc. I’ve also remov d the “signed” digital drivers requirement on my system so that won’t interfere with the full download but it’s still not going past the initial screen upon connecting the drone. I’ve confirmed the chord is a data chord (I use when flying the drone) and the startup sequence is correct but I’m getting no response and can’t move forward. Sucks there’s like zero work around for this either. My laptop is a new Dell running windows 11. Not sure what else to do for this to actually work.

I assume you mean that you disabled Windows' Real-time protection, yes?

Have you disabled adblock software? This will often prevent the download window from opening.

Which browsers are you using? Try different browsers. Some browsers will simply not work for some things in some situations with little or no explanation other than "others have had the same complaint." For this reason I have three browsers that I use.

You lost me here. I thought this post was about the inability to download and install the Assistant 2 software on your Windows machine. You wrote, "I’ve also remov d the “signed” digital drivers requirement on my system so that won’t interfere with the full download but it’s still not going past the initial screen..."

I gather this to mean "the download is failing/has failed." Did the download work or not? Did you get the Assistant 2 software downloaded and installed??? I'm lost.

Okay...assuming that you DID download and install the Assistant 2 software, this takes my advice/support in a completely different direction.

When you plug the drone into the laptop Windows should install a driver for that drone. You'll hear the "new device" sound Windows makes when you plug in new devices. If Windows doesn't have or can't find a driver for your drone, it make a second sound to let you know that it doesn't have a driver for that device.. Driver installation is easily confirmed in the Device Manager.

To be clear, using Assistant 2 software is a 2-step process;
1) Making sure Windows has a driver for the drone.
2) Connecting the Assistant 2 software to the drone.

It sounds like you have skipped the first step.

BEFORE opening the Assistant 2 software, CONFIRM that your drone is indeed connected to Windows. If not, you will need to download and install drivers to do so.

Yes I've downloaded the Assistant software from the DJI website. The version is the one for the phantom 4 since that is the drone i'm currently needing to recalibrate the vision sensors for. The software launches fine but does not recognize that the drone is connected and therefore does not move beyond the opening "assistant" screen and i'm unable to do anything within the assistant softeware.

I take this to mean that Windows DOES have a driver for the drone, yes? And that you followed my advice and confirmed this in the Device Manager, yes?

It sounds like the main issue is that DJI Assistant 2 launches correctly but doesn't establish communication with the Phantom 4 when connected.

A few things to verify that often get missed in this exact situation:

  • Make sure you are using the correct DJI Assistant 2 version specifically for the Phantom 4 series (not Enterprise or newer Assistant builds)
  • Try a different USB port (preferably USB 2.0 if available), as some Windows 11 systems have issues with USB 3.0 handshake
  • Fully close DJI Assistant 2, reconnect the drone, then launch the software again (order matters in some cases)
  • Check Windows Device Manager while plugging in the drone if it appears under USB devices but not as a recognized DJI device, it usually indicates a driver handshake issue
  • If possible, try a different cable, even if the current one is “data capable” (some cables still fail under sustained device communication)

In a few Windows 11 cases, compatibility issues between DJI Assistant 2 and USB driver initialization prevent the device from being detected, even though installation is correct.

My advice was to confirm driver compatibility in the Device Manager. There has been no response to that advice. Without basic driver confirmation, any and all other measures are moot. Assistant 2 will never connect to a device that doesn't first connect to Windows.

Ugh, that's incredibly frustrating – I spent hours battling the exact same issue on Windows 11 and only got it working by manually updating the "VISION" driver in Device Manager from the Assistant 2 install folder

I’ve seen this a few times on Windows 11 machines, especially Dell laptops.

If Assistant 2 opens but never detects the Phantom, check Device Manager while plugging the drone in. If you see “VISION,” an unknown USB device, or anything with a warning icon, Windows probably didn’t assign the DJI driver correctly.

Manually updating the driver from the DJI Assistant 2 “Drivers” folder usually fixes it.

Also make sure you’re using the Phantom-specific Assistant 2 version. Some of the newer DJI Assistant builds don’t play nicely with older Phantom 4 firmware.

And weirdly enough, I’ve had “good” data cables still fail with DJI devices, so trying another cable is still worth doing.

Credit where credit is due, Donnie! You definitely called out the Device Manager first. I was just excited that samlevy actually found the exact folder path for that 'VISION' driver fix. Hopefully, combining your workflow with his specific folder solution gets Ryan sorted out.
I appreciate it. I just thought it was funny.

You have a great day.
