Anyone operating an M 600 in extreme high temps? Looking for cooling tips, besides shade! PD will be acquiring one soon. It's 113F/45C right now (midafternoon), to give you an idea.

This is an unusual heat wave. The general summer afternoon temp is closer to 105F. (central Arizona). Just want to learn any practical tips anyone has come up with.

wonder if it might make sense to try to paint the shell white or get a skin of some sort, been thinking of what to do with my I2 in high heat.

That is an interesting suggestion. We may explore the paint option...after the last 2 days I may become a climate change apostle .

A low-cost way to test out the paint theory might be to get heat reflective tape, you should be able to find this at Home Depot or the like. I would also recommend looking at automotive application (typically race cars) for any wraps, paints, and the like. If it works, you can then buy some expensive heat reflective paints.

I think the biggest concern with heat is to the batteries and electronics, which I'm not sure how you would cool off other than maybe fashioning heatsinks somehow or adding fans.

The redneck engineer in me would probably put some dry ice in a ziploc bag, punch some holes in it and ziptie it above the electronics so the prop wash blows cold CO2 around everything.

I suggest keeping the copter as cool as possible while waiting to deploy. I use an umbrella on a tripod when needed in the summer time. If an air-conditioned area is not available I will store the batteries on top of a towel with cooler packs below them in a cooler.

One problem I had up in Phoenix with the Phantoms wasn't so much the aircraft but the iPad connected to the remote. The iPad will shut down for x minutes to cool off before it will startup again.
I have been working with X-naut iPad Cooling System and they should have a version of this cooler which will fit on the DJI controller soon.

Thanks for the response, Gary. Yes, I regularly have Ipad overheating issues in AZ summers. I looked at the X-naut but thought it kinda big and clunky to mount on the DJI controller. A lightweight version would be great.

I hear you on the heat... I was recently operating my Inspire 2 in 100+ and the AC operated fine, however the tablet AND phone not so much. Even though I was operating in the shade the heat took its toll on the devices. Often the devices froze and app had to be restarted or commands issued via the tablet would not be reflected. Example.. when I hit the video record button the devices never told me that it was actually recording (but when i got home the footage was there). Hope this helps..

I have big cardboard boxes, with customised toplid were i can straight away put in AC an Tx after a flight.
you can put in cool elements and absorbers; don't make it to cold if in humid environment...to avoid condens
i also have a small plant sprayer, but apply with care only on closed surfaces .. spray often and in small amounts.
45˚C is really hot, my ipad's limit is 32˚C
good luck
