Flight training without gimbal

To all of you who are finally getting the Inspire, I'm curious to know if it can be flown without the camera for initial flight tests. Thanks.

I see that there is a simulator in the software. I suppose that could help. I remember reading that the software will report an error or something if the gimbal isn't just so, or something to that effect. That's why I'm curious if it can even lift off without the gimbal /camera attached.

Ive read this is just for the ios app. Not sure how true but hopefully the android app will have this.
