I'm looking to take off from a beach to film some surfers, 5.5km clear of aerodromes and the beach has a sprinkling of people on it. From this definition it is not a populous area because it is not highly populate.

Thoughts?

Quote casr 101: An area is a populous area in relation to the operation of an unmanned aircraft or rocket if the area has a sufficient density of population for some aspect of the operation, or some event that might happen during the operation (in particular, a fault in, or failure of, the aircraft or rocket) to pose an unreasonable risk to the life, safety or property of somebody who is in the area but is not connected with the operation.

Okay team. Let's all calm down and need to first define what is the meaning of the word Populous.

Populous is defined as ...
1. full of residents or inhabitants, as a region; heavily populated.
2. jammed or crowded with people:
There's no more populous place than TimesSquare on New Year's Eve.
3. forming or comprising a large number orquantity:
Because of epidemics the tribes are notnearly so populous as they once were.

So unless there is a rock concert or a remake of Jaws at the beach then you're GTG.
