Hello all, my name is Brent. Been at the remote flying thing for about 20 years. Cut my teeth on e-gliders, built my first fueled RC plane out of a kit and ended the RC fixed wing thing competing (IMAC) and then the Feds made it impossible to fly at home here in Canada. Last year I bought my second RPAS (drone). Started with the DJI Mini 4K until my Mini 4 Pro arrived, Next came a new-to-me Neo. Quickly got frustrated seeing the lil things out in the rural un-used sky (Saskatchewan is known as "The Land of Living Skies), it's on our license plates... I found a Mavic 2 Pro, and to be compliant I wrote my Basic RPAS license, and luckily passed on my first attempt... The next acquisition was a used Inspire 2 Standard. And the final purchase was the Mavic 4 Pro (that's what we all say right!).
Like I said, I am out on a farm in Rural Sk. Air traffic from the airport 14km away is almost non-existent, but a keen eye and ear will find the occasional Spray plane working in the area. I fly every day that Momma Nature will allow. Glider fuel, rain and -30C are the limits. LOL
As a senior, Bigger is better at least for VLoS. We often tease new acquaintances that "we can watch our dog run away for three days". Here a breeze of 40kmh is the norm, so the mini drones stay grounded a lot of the time. As far as the larger of my flock I consider the task, the risk as well as the elements. My Inspire 2 is a great platform for video, the wandering disqualifies it for me as a Still Image machine. Mine came with the X5S gimbal, 2 Olympus lenses (12 and 25mm), 3 sets of batteries, both RCs and a whole lot of support stuff in the huge case. Met the original owner which is always a wise thing...
Figuring out all the options in the DJI Go 4 App and what the similarities and differences are between the Mavic 2 Pro and Inspire 2 are is a task. Filters and capture modes is enough to make you dizzier than spinning a couple calibration circles.
I am all ears for constructive input.
