To all I2 owner (especially leisure and hobbyist purpose), can you share which home content insurance will cover your I2 and Zenmuse cam which the whole rig could be near £5000....

I have a Santander home insurance (underwrite by Aivia) that they said will cover and will treat exclusively, didn't count as part of "general vehicle/aircraft" items

What do you have?

I know there are lots of drone insurance around , however most of them will need certain pilot certificate and treat that as commercial pilot

I have also purchased 3rd party liability from FPVUK

Nearly ALL UK policies will have exclusions for aircraft/Flying models. You MAY get theft cover but you will not get cover for when in use or crash cover from a Homeowners policy. They are written on standard forms issued under binding authorities (In this case Aviva) and as such will not respond to the type of cover you are after.

Before you feel confident I would read the policy wording VERY carefully and do not trust what a spotty oik in a call center tells you.

hmmmm..... I do understand, I have re-confirm a few times with Santander and they still claim the home content insurance will cover... how can I check if the cover is real or not?

Are you actually after theft cover for your I2 or cover whilst you aircraft is airborne in case it crashes/you crash it?

Santander said the insurnace will cover both damage of drone occur in home and take outside (both transit damage and airborne crash) , but don't take part in any 3rd party liability....

I wouldn't believe them.
Firstly, any item worth around £5,000 would probably need to be itemised on your contents cover and scheduled as 'All Risk' (since you will be taking them out of the house).
They will charge an additional premium or AP for this.
Secondly, all risk items will not be covered for mechanical breakdown (which is what would happen if your I2 suffered a fault and crashed).
Thirdly, there will be exclusions to photographic equipment which usually are things like "We will not cover scratches to lenses on cameras or photographic equipment"
Finally - you would need to get written confirmation from them that UAV's (drones) and/or flying radio control equipment is covered.
When you try and pin them down on this they will start to squirm. Ask them to get written confirmation from the underwriter that your UAV will be covered in the event of a crash (either through human error or mechanical failure)
Also, it is highly unlikely you will get cover for theft or attempted theft from an unattended vehicle.

I wish you luck.....

Good to know all these point, will talk to them again these days and see what will they said.

Santander now adding the I2 cover on-top to my existing home insurance, they quote an extra £6 on top of original , the I2 is specify as a "specific valuable item" with manufacturer and model number info.

Check out page 4 'Exclusions'

Aircraft of any kind not covered http://www.santander.co.uk/csdlvlr/...021247914&blobheadername1=Content-Disposition

Stated as 'Motorised vehicles, aircraft, caravans, watercraft of
any kind'

There are also specific exclusions for any type of mechanical breakdown.

As I thought - they are talking out of their backside and do not understand what they are selling - they will tell you anything to get you to pay more premium!

I did see this part, I have ask them about this as well, what they said is the I2 since now specific as a "specify valuable item" so will exclude from this term....

anyway will check with them again ;)

Again, I'm afraid they are clueless call center workers trained to only take your money.
Using their same logic that absolute exclusions do not apply to specified valuable items, you would then have to assume that 'mechanical breakdown of any kind' would also not apply then. (How could they differentiate between one exclusion being lifted but not another?).
This would mean that if you have an expensive SLR or TV in your home and it broke down then it would be covered!
So you wouldn't need to get your TV repaired if it went wrong.....just claim on your Santander home contents cover.
I know what they would say if you tried to claim that one!!!!!

I use Insure 4 Drones who cover for crash, theft and public liability but you have to have PfCO

Hiscox do offer drone cover on their household policies. These are generaly not run of the mill and therefore more expensive but my drones are covered at no additional cost on our policy. The commercial cover is also with the same company so hopefully there are no holes.

It isn't too hard to get cover for drones when they are at home on most household policies, the loophole start to come in mostly when people try to depend on their household policy for what happens outside the home in relation to loss/damage/public liability.

that's weird, because I have also called Hiscox these days and they said they won't cover drone in their home insurance, instead they point me to the Moonrock insurance which specialised for drone insurance and underwrite by Hiscox too, but Moonrock only accept licensed commercial pilots..

Ours is a bespoke home policy with quite high values. Cover for theft and more importantly third party but did not cost any more to add them. Which was good seeing as it was pretty expensive to start with.

Do you have any info or contact so I can give them a call for quoting mine?
