Hi all,

I'm anticipating purchasing an Inspire 1 in the next few weeks. What accessories are a "must have", what accessories a a "nice to have" ?

I'm assuming a must have would be at least an extra battery. I'm not certain about the "nice to have" I would appreciate your inputs!

thanks,
Lesn8r

Hi there,

Hope this helps.

Need to have:
More batteries, the more the better.
Spare props
Late model iPad or other tablet
Good sunshade for tablet (see my classified listing for these)

Nice to have:
A larger case that allows for transporting in flight mode
Larger capacity memory card/s
GPS tracker (I don't use these but others do)
HD goggles or secondary monitor

That's about all I can think of. Let us know when you pull the trigger!

Insurance - Accidental loss and damage whilst flying and public liability insurance if you're looking at flying it commercially. (not an accessory but definitely a necessaty)
Extra charges and batteries.
Ipad Air 2
Shou screen recorder

@Mazz can we possibly sticky this thread?
It's a good thread for new owners or skeptical buyers.

I also added a couple of bright small strobe lights with Velcro. My eyes are old and being able to see the I1 at long distances is a major help. The lights can be found on Amazon and they are very reasonable! I also went with a GPS tracker. Went to a group meeting and a drone being flown dropped out in the tall weeds and it took hours to find it!

Keep the ideas coming, I really appreciate it. Daniel, what tracker are you using? I did not even consider at tracker but it sounds like prudent insurance.

Cheers,

I bought the Trackimo for the GPS tracking. Not saying it's the best, just what I bought after looking at several on Amazon. Also bought the Cateye Nima strobe(SL-LD130-F) to fit on my I1.

I was actually talking to our Trackimo rep this morning, I was asking him about coverage for a customer down in south america. He told me "Trackimo uses both GPS as well as GSM to locate the device so it will work anywhere in the world. One caveat is if the user isn’t able to get GSM coverage then his messaging will not be received until GSM coverage is resumed. HOWEVER, he will still be able to track the device using GPS."

Hope that helps :)

Hey Lesn8r, let us know if you have any questions on ordering an Inspire.. We have a bunch in stock as well as cases and tracking devices.. Also, orders over $1000 can be financed..

Have you used the Trackimo? I bought it and the instructions leave a lot to be desired. No explanation on any of the buttons. I assume the red is to turn it on and you hold it for three seconds, but then what does the red or blue light mean? They go off so is it working??

The SOS, I can understand I guess, but there is a button on each side of the SOS button. What are they for! I am confused. It does seem to show my location on the map, but I'm unsure of the thing is on or not!

Can I just add some things that I haven't seen anybody mention but to me were helpful to me in the field.
I got a few velcro straps and or rubber bands to keep the props together as well as keep the gimbal case closed (maybe I got a bad one but it pops open a lot and doesn't look like it will last long).
I also got an old Vision Lens Cap which fits the Inspire camera perfectly.
I swapped out the DJI harness for a much simpler lanyard (it's not that heavy).
I bought a white out pen which I used to mark a line on the gimbal protection cap as well as the cap that covers where the gimbal goes so I can line them up much easier. I also painted my prop locks with the white out pen so they're all white which makes them so much easier to find and put on (I think DJI should have made them white to begin with). Also I use a sandwich baggie with a bit of air to keep them in for now so they don't get squashed or lost in my case.
Lastly I got myself a 20cm iPhone cable which is a good length to reach any iPad or iPhone.
