WTF;
- The Inspire 1’s propellers may come off during flight if they are not correctly hand tightened and environmental factors (including sand, heavy dust, or high winds) cause the motors to stop or slow
down suddenly.
To prevent this, DJI is offering free Propeller Locks to all current Inspire 1 customers. If you ordered your Inspire 1 from the DJI Online Store,
I ordered my Inspire from UAV Direct...did this issue just surface? I would think that if this is real everyone should get these locks, regardless of where the unit was ordered. DJI and all the companies that sell the Inspire should be contacting purchasers immediately about this...if it is real...or is this one of the many rumors floating around out there. Thanks for the heads up...WTF seems appropriate. I was under the impression that these props were basically self-tightening like the Phantom stock props...the 2 guys doing the DJI demo do hand-tighten the props, but they don't really stress that this is important.

They are self tightening (although the screws/threads are MUCH smaller than the Phantom's) but they are suggesting that if the motor stops or slows down, suddenly, then the prop "might" come off

Thanks...I have heard nothing from my dealer...UAV Direct...will call them and see if they know about this.
Mike, how much experience do you have flying MRs? It's my assumption that this may be your first multi rotor. If that is the case, I would advise you to get a lot of practice in a safe outdoor area without walls or any obstacles. If not, then be advised that the max operating height for the VPS is 2.5 meters, which is 8.2 feet, so if you are going to flying at 20 feet, you will not have VPS stabilization. Hope this helps in your decision-making.
This helps a lot...I have been flying for about a year now...started with the Vision Plus, hated the camera on this, upgraded to a $3,000 kit from DSLR pros, Go Pro, Futaba, etc...but really did not like the fact that I could not control the camera from the ground...for that kind of money, seemed ridiculous, so I then see the Inspire...seems to have everything I want. But this info is very helpful...I don't feel comfortable at this point to be flying without stable control. Very much appreciate your input. Have you heard the latest stuff about propellers not staying attached and that there are now lock nuts we are supposed to get for the craft? Have no idea how real this is? Thanks

Hello all, I just upgraded my Inspire 1 with today's new firmware v1.2.0.16 Indoors and its looking pretty good now.
No drifting to the right and it's very stable 1 meter off the floor.
Also, the battery flightimer --/-- via the IOS appl displays time left.
I am in Boston and the weather is bad and can't fly outside. As soon as I get a clear day, I will test it out and report my results.
And yes, recheck and double check the advance IMU calibration three or four times and the data before you fly. Also do the basic regardless it says no carbration needed. Do it for insurance.
Then celebrate the compass three times outside and make sure it's pointing correctly on the pilot app.
Also, check the about to make sure the code is loaded in the inspire after you updated to this v1.2.0.16 and keep a copy of this information by taking a snapshot with your smartphone.

DJI's download site keeps timing out when I try to download the update. Can someone who has already downloaded it email it (not sure how big it is) to me or otherwise make it available to download for me?

I was going to show this off at a multi-rotor club meeting tonight so I am in a hurry . . .
I installed the new firmware but inspire did not do any beeping like the last firmware took sd card out then tried samething checked app it says firmware is the latest also checked settings some were to high tried advance and basic it wouldn't let me do it first time it did any help thanks

My experience with UAV Direct with info was like pulling teeth. Had to call and ask for an invoice after buying inspire. Cancelled my order with them and went with Coptershop. They seem to be on it.
IF you still have basic and advanced cal options you are not updated to the latest version of firmware. the version will not allow the inspire to start the motors when the cal is out of spec. and as i said there is no basic and advanced option. my guess is you are not on the latest version of the app.

i think the two IMU calibration options are a feature on the APP version, not the the firmware version. i have IOS app .91, and firmware .16, and i have both basic and advanced calibration in the APP. i've heard mention of a .92 version of the IOS DJI Pilot App, but have not upgraded yet - got my original before the hoopla and the QRcode scan stopped working.

I agree with PaulKent, i too only see one way to calibrate the IMU, only see the advance mode, No basic cal in my IOS version 0.9.2 that i am running here.
I also did receive a peep tone and flashing red led on the remote after i upgraded the remote to
Firmware v1.2.0.16 and I had to calibrate the sticks.
Then i took the Inspire outside and then the app notified me that i needed to calibrate the IMU, i did, it took 15 minutes and then i could fly. Inspire flew very well at 20 feet.
NOTE: If i did not take that calibration steps, the MC would not let me start the motors and would have kept me grounded.
Then as backup, i re-calibrated the compass and then all was good!
JUST FYI: i did see the famous toilet bowl effect for the first time on the my Inspire 1. So keep your eyes on this...

i loaded .92 APP onto my phone, and it only has the one "IMU calibration" button in the MC Settings/Advanced Settings/Sensors dialog.
what i can test is if the .91 APP contains the logic to refuse to fly if the IMU is out of whack - only DJI know if this logic was added to the firmware logic that runs inside the microprocessor on the bird, or if the test is in the APP. best place would be in the firmware, because technically we dont need the app to fly. wish they would publish a better changelog for what been changed in between versions.
really looking forward to the SDK !!

Does anyone know if there will be a February or March firmware release? Thanks to this group - critical issues have been documented.
