i have a friend that has bee given the following details on a repair invoice
An hour to replace the hdmi module, an hour to fit prop adapters and new props and 2 hours to replace the boom adjustment arm (not the main boom, but the thinner one used to adjust the angle of the boom) that’s 4 hours labour which he was charging $858 for.

What advice would you guys give.

Repairer is DVS drones in Victoria Australia

Thanks

Yep. That $858 is for labour only. It’s in addition to the parts. His cost for parts seem to be ok.

do the repairs yourself. the HDMI module on the RC or on the Inspire itself??
the prop adapter and new props an hour is a joke. 15 mins tops. its 2 screws per each to remove/install
the thinner arm yes is a pain to replace you need to remove the center frame, which means a full tear down

These are the arms I’m talking about, not the main tubes.. shouldn’t need a tear down?
I agree about self repairs but he is in Sydney and I’m in Brisbane. He doesn’t seem to believe that he is being ripped off. The bloke doing the repairs has convinced him that the LynnPhann prop adapters he has are no good so he needed to replace them.
The HDMI module is the one on back of the controller held on with 4 screws.
I really wanted others here to confirm what I’m telling him.
5 min to change hdmi module.
10 min to change the struts and adjust
10 min to “upgrade” his prop adapters.
Non of which require any specialised skills that need to charge $200 and hour for labour.

i know the strut you talk about and the screw to remove them from the center frame is hidden by the battery tray. so yeah a full tear down is pretty much needed to get to the scrrew

A guy who works on these things all the time for a living shouldn't take more than an hour to fix something. I'd say he is getting ripped off royally.

A friend who is a Mercedes mechanic says he can easily beat the shop time rate down to a third of the book's rate a times. He can do easily do 16 hours worth of shop rate time in an eight hour day, but the customer is stuck with the quote with no alternative once given.

Hour and a half max for all of it. He could send it to dji and probably have it done cheaper even including shipping. In other words tell your friend he’s getting screwed over. Hell he could probably ship it to me in the United States and have it done cheaper.

agreed I could do it for cost of parts and a small amount into my pocket. Ive bought 5 broken, and fixed every one of them myself

I withdraw my comments on the costs from DVS drones.
I have just spoken to those guys and they have told me that the costs where not as was presented to me by my ‘friend’
It seems there was a lot more to the story and I’m glad i was able to clear it up with those blokes
