With version2 floats it floats like a PBY. Amazing how quickly I got used to the idea. It's not exciting at all.
I might even use water landings as standard when operating from the boat. It saves a lot of hassle and catching can be tricky.

How are the version 2 floats different?
I attached two halves of noodle to each side of the original floats. This effectively doubles the buoyancy. So it floats a full inch higher without impacting flight characteristics much.

And then what...? o_O
Normally it would be a total loss, a water landing, without floats. But after landing with floats you can just retrieve it.
I have have an inflatable canoe, ready and within 2 minutes now, when I fly (with floats) over water from the shore, unless I'm flying from the boat. I usually don't go any further than a few hundred meters. If it flies away (never happened) and lands miles away on the lake it will take a while to reach it. I can find it with the on board GPS/GSM tracker. It will float happily and high until I get to it, I pick only good weather for these flights. But on land a fly away can be just as well a disaster ending in a tree, a wall or a closed area, a highway, you name it.

The risks are not more per se, just different.
