Hi all

Just wondering if this event might be any good for the I2? Before anyone says it, yes I know it's for full frame cameras but I've researched a couple of adapters that could be used. This lens is virtually all plastic so weight won't be an issue.

What does anyone think?

As you might have gathered I am a keen amateur when it comes to photography, so just putting ideas on the forum to get straight.

Should I just take it as gospel from the DJI lens list that no other lenses are compatible?

Thanks

While it might be possible, I don't see any advantage to it. This lens is fine, but I don't think it's any better than the Olympus M.Zuiko MFT primes.

And I suspect you might have some problems balancing it.

I was just looking at getting a bit more distance from the camera but as it’s only a £125 and all plastic I thought it might be a reasonable choice.

Okay just seen a video on this subject so no need to reply. I will abandon this idea

I have one of the Vello adapters for the M43 screw-mount lenses and it comes in close to 90 grams. Add that to the Canon lens and you are around 250 grams, plus the adapter is thick (>1") which puts the lens way out in front and then you need a heavy counterweight on the back of the camera to balance it. I use it on the M43 Olympus handheld cameras as the gimbal would not work with the length or weights (Lens+adapter + back-end counterweight.).

Probably the best close 'approved fit' would be the Olympus 45mm which you might find used, but be aware Olympus updated that lens firmware to ver. 1.2 in it. I bought one and it sat so long it had version 1.0 in it. Some update to address some aperture issue with video. If you own an Olympus camera you can update it yourself, or be prepared to pay Olympus Service $140 to do so.

For the X5 series, you'd be wasting a lot of effort and money trying to get everything to work. As Casey said, everything would be forward biased and unbalanced, and I'm not sure that the X5S would operate the lens in anything other than manual - i.e. AF and aperture control probably wouldn't work. there'd be no lens corrections added to the file too, which would mean you'd have to play around in Lightroom or PS to correct distortion and chromatic aberration.

From experience, the Oly 45 works fine with the x5s, even on earlier firmware versions , and you'd be better spending the money on that - it's only 10mm reach less than the 50mm would give you.
