Coordinates readings?

FAA requires lat/lon coordinates for all of the official flight log filings under the typical Certificate of Authorization

I wasn't aware of this requirement for obtaining a COA under the Section 333 exemption. Could you post the specific rule/exemption that requires this?

It isn't required in obtaining the COA, but the COA's that are being issued have an extensive reporting requirement in them, that reads as follows (this is from the COA issued to me and my company, which appears to be pretty standard):

C. Reporting Requirements

1. Documentation of all operations associated with UAS activities is required regardless of the airspace in which the UAS operates. NOTE: Negative (zero flights) reports are required.

2. The operator must submit the following information throughmailto:[email protected] on a monthly basis:

a. Name of Operator, Exemption number and Aircraft registration number
b. UAS type and model
c. All operating locations, to include location city/name and latitude/longitude
d. Number of flights (per location, per aircraft)
e. Total aircraft operational hours
f. Takeoff or Landing damage
g. Equipment malfunctions. Reportable malfunctions include, but are not limited to the following:
(1) On-board flight control system
(2) Navigation system
(3) Powerplant failure in flight
(4) Fuel system failure
(5) Electrical system failure
(6) Control station failure
3. The number and duration of lost link events (control, performance and health monitoring, or communications) per UA per flight.

Suggest you turn on captions on the app and go fly and take video...
Review of the SRT file saved with each video shows a running log of where you were...
Updates once per second... can use Notepad or such to look at it...

Here is an example 4 sec snip of a flight I flew last Wed... during a P-GPS RTH landing...
The last 4 seconds of a 42 second clip... MP4 and SRT files save to card same name...

Only works if you have captions turned on and and are taking video...
Stills have location data in the EXIF if you prefer that route...

My point is that above shows the FAA that I was about 2 meters off the ground and descending...
And the GPS numbers accurately show where I was at the time...
On a farm in NW Peoria county, state of Illinois, country of United States of America...

Just a suggestion how to solve your problem... ;)

On edit... I am going to XX out the location data... as this is an open forum...
You still get the idea... go play with your bird and see the file output...
My guess is they leave GPS data out of the flight log for the same reason I just XX'd mine..
In case of data breach at DJI server... TMI to be in the wild... ;)

That is a terrific idea! Thank you for that -- may be just what I need. (Though it would still be better if the DJI Pilot app displayed this as part of the flight log!)

I mean the geo location of the plane when its flying , usually identified as geo X and Y or altitude and latitude.

I think the app does not show such info although it has a GPS receiver onboard that can make such info available for the SDK to print.

This brings up another question, If I created a new app using their SDK, would I be able to capture the GPS coordinates ?

I think you mean Longitude and Latitude

Hello pilots.
Today I was wondering why am unable to simply read the coordinates for the plan location in the app.

Altitude and latitude are very important values that should be easy to read on the screen. Don't u agree with me? And any ideas or workarounds to get it?
Anyone knows what the "10" is after the "GPS" coordinates?
