The Drone Innovation Act of 2017 was introduced by Representative Jason Lewis on June 16, 2017. It was referred to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. This bill is similar to Senator Feinstein’s Drone Federalism Act recently introduced in that it seeks to clarify this murky area of how states and local governments can regulate unmanned aircraft.

Nice read and well written by Mr. Rupprecht. Always enjoy seeing his content. Will be interesting to see where this one goes...

The DAC needs to keep moving forward with their progressions to show lawmakers their proposals and handle on things to properly manage UAS integration within the NAS.

I fear the need to get permission to fly above private property while photographing a nearby property. Now there is a transit exception, but it is pretty vague and would potentially open you up to legal troubles. A typical low end Real Estate still shoot at 150 AGL and 150 feet away from a home would involve flying directly over or nearly over 20 or more homes. Getting written permission from that many "owners" would make these low margin operations impossible.
