Final Cut Pro and 4k Footage from X3

Final Cut Pro X - I'm am filming and editing in 4K. My FCPX project settings has the matching 4K output (resolution and fps - 29.97fps). The exported clip is a bit jerkier than the raw footage. Do I have to play with any of program settings to get buttery smooth 4K like the raw footage? I am even notices from degrading when I downsample to 1080p (Which I simply do by creating another project with 1080p settings and copy/pasting the timeline from the 4k clip. I assume this is acceptable.)

Btw, also recording at 1/60 shutter speed and working on a retina MacBook Pro. Below is info from each clip, I am just not video saavy enough to interpret the info or determine if it helps.

Where are you watching the exported video? 8 GB or 16 Gb of memory on the MB Pro? You need to show us the exported video on YT or Vimeo.

I saw the studder over the lily pads. Have you tried reimporting that clip and do the edit again? Maybe something went wrong on the import?

I have several times. In fact, it almost looks smoother in the FCPX preview window! It's a bit worse in 4K.

I only saw jitteryness over the lily pond when you were looking straight down.

This is due to the large amount of data that has to flow for this type of video. Every frame is unique and it can not build from the previous frame.

You probably need better compression to get smoother video from FCPX. I would recommend that you use Compressor for FCPX and see it that solves your problem for you.

I agree. Earlier renditions of the video had choppyness throughout. I resolved by making sure no programs were open during export. The lilly pads are the only problem now and I think it's because of the raw footage. That was the one clip that looked bad. My theory is a result of the data coming in and possibly slow SD card writing.

YES, a slow SD card will cause choppy ram footage. I had understood from your original post that the RAW was buttery smooth.

I always use the fastest SD card they make. Do not try to save a couple of buck here.

Currently I am using a Samsung PRO+ micro SD U-3 with a max write speed of 90 MB/s.

It is the write speed more than anything that you care about.
 
Is there any remedy for distortion on Inspire 1's Zemuse 3? I am not quite sure what happened but on my initial flights, the video seems to be fine... then it shows distorted feed on my iPad as well as on the recorded. Please help!

Im an editor and would always convert the 4k to 1080p in Quicktime Pro first. I feel I get better results than converting in the timeline.

My ultimate goal was to end with 4k footage and not downsample at all to 1080p.
 
it's ok... i found the culprit... it's the connector i bought in replace with the iPad. bought a curled connector (i thought it would be a brilliant idea if "no dangly wires" connect from RC to iPad) which is for Android but has an adapter for iPhones/iPad... turns out that the extra connector distorts the stream on realtime view but the good part is once i got it import on MacBook Pro, the video plays perfectly!
 
I use the six inch cord made by Apple. I have never trusted non Apple cables. They are expensive for a reason, they are much better made.
 
Is everything played in real time? I sped up a shot that had a similar composure. I had to speed up the frame rate to prevent what you are seeing. Have you tried playing that scene at 59 FPS? I
