Power the i2 up without the SD then insert after a few minutes.
Tap AF then turn the focus wheel from one end point to the other and zoom in & out you.

The Focus wheel should only work in MF not AF but I’ll take the glitchy zoom.
I don't know about the I2 but you should be able to press the Lens button and cycle between aperture, focus, and zoom. I know I can do it with my X5 on my Osmo handle. Still have yet to make a cable to make my focus wheel work with my I1 but as far as I know it should work there as well.
