does anyone know if this will be on the next firmware update? Seems all other manufacturers have this but Dji seem to be left be left behind on this.

It will surely be brought to i1, but I get the feeling that every last DJI engineer is now focussed on just getting the standard stuff ironed out.

Definitely not in the next 3 to 4 firmware upgrades.
