I would think that the compass values would change depending on your distance from the equator? Maybe not?
To my knowledge the app is supposed to let you know when your values are out of range, both the IMU and compass. I don't trust it though.

Compass values measure Longitude surely, so distance from the Equator shouldn't matter.

Sun spots and the general tendency for the Earth to wobble I suppose, other than that the Earth's magnetic field stays pretty stable. T.

Compass is magnetic, that's why magnets and metal can affect it. Also the magnetic north pole isn't at true north pole, this is why you should recalibrate when moving long distances if 1000 miles or so. More prevalent in the northern hemisphere the further north you are
