Hi, I recently bought a BOXI.. It's a mechanism that you could attach a second battery to and onto the Inspire 1 for the extra safety. I was wondering if anyone else has bought one?

Hi BigAI07, The only problem I’m facing is that I received it without a manual nor any link that I could checkout how to install

Its not cheap and I tried contacting “Boxi” regarding the manual or installation video but they won’t reply back, so I am kinda stuck..

Interesting, indeed.
I think i am ordering that gadget ;-)

I would like to know how the batteries are connected.

I hope you can answer a few questions:
- What has to be done to the main battery / main power connectors?
- How is the 2nd battery connected?
- Are cables supplied or do you have to make them by your own?
- Can any LIPO be installed? (as long it is a 6S)
- i see a XT 90 connector on the side of the BOXI. Is that the connector for the additional battery?

Thank you very much for your time.

Regards,
K.

"For the extra safety"? I would question the "load safety" on the AC, not to mention the reduction in flight times and expense....oh forgot, thats what the extra battery is for.
I'm sure there's an engineer here that could calculate that up for us (On the i1, not the i2) The percentage of folks having two batteries on the i1 is VERY very small. IMO those that want the "extra safety/flight times" are running the i2. No need to out-do the engineering that's already been proven/established nor want to Frankenstein their i1.

Just look at the pdf on their page

The piece with the 2 copper tabs could either be folded over the power and Ground prongs on the i1 then the battery inserted on top of them or you could take the i1 apart and solder them to the back of the power board. Which is what I did to mine but I will tell you that having the battery that far back on the i1 will make it extremely heavy in the back and throw the center of gravity way off. Forward speed will be very sluggish and the handling will be bad. I use a reserve battery on mine but I removed the vps module and run it length wise under the bird. Basically it goes from the back of the rear gimbal plate mount to being flush with the back of the drone. That's close to the only way to do it to keep the center of gravity where it should be.

I would not use that for just the battery. The unit itself plus an fpv camera would be ok but I wouldn't be strapping a a battery underneath it.

To be honest, I do agree with you but it has happened to me when the battery just bricked and fell out of the sky whilst at 83% battery full and DJI replaced everything. It was still under warranty back then. Now it is not covered anymore so I thought of being extra careful.

Thank you for the details and good info! You got me thinking now... I might try it without soldering just to see but I can visualize what you are saying and I see your point! If I had an X5R then the balance would be ok I think

Same happened to my first i1.
