Hi Guys, since the new style props no longer thread on the motor shaft, and the props themselves are not threaded how does one go about balancing them?

There is someone on eBay that sells a balancing rod for the QR props. About 10 dollars I believe...

Hey wait...I thought the QR props were considered a bit unreliable?
See, for example: http://www.inspirepilots.com/thread...r-prop-system-failures.3364/page-2#post-36864

Are they now back in favor?

Intuitively (for which read, I really have no basis in fact for this), it seems like the self-tightening props with prop locks are less likely to fail.

I purchased one from eBay as follows. http://www.ebay.com/usr/ecil-200. Its works well and the order - delivery process went smoothly, even to Australia.

I didn't say I use them (which I don't), the OP just wanted to know how you can balance the QR style props. :)

They aren't unreliable....I have yet to see one crash that was due solely to the failure of the qr prop system...I've seen pictures of broken qr mounts, but you gotta remember most people that buy an Inspire have no idea what they are doing, so when they go to install it they think they need to wrench down that mount, which you don't, it does have a torque limit. Thread lock is your friend. It is a wear and tear item that DJI recommends be changed out every so often, they weren't built to last forever.

I've had nearly 150 flights on my qr system and not a single issue short of some unbalanced props, but that should be expected after much use. You have to take other peoples issues with a grain of salt, especially if you're well experienced and they are not

I use the dubro prop balancer.
You just drill a 7/64" hole through the prop centre hub
One cone with flat side to the top of prop and the second cone pointy end in towards bottom side of prop and you are good to go.
If you raise the balancer arms to the very top you can even get the prop to clear the base and let it rotate fully
