Inspire 2 X4S for Survey Topo Maps

New to mapping applications so here is a less than informed question...
What Inspire 2 photo format support are you using for these mapping applications with either the X4S or X5S? (the X4S does not support DNG RAW?)
And does it require the purchase of additional DNG RAW license plus SSD storage?
I guess I am not understanding if DNG RAW is required for these applications and since you are not taking videos, does that mean you can take these photos without the DNG RAW license and have enough SD memory storage for an entire flight time?

The RAW license refers to recording CDNG video files...it is not required to record DNG still photos (nor do you need an SSD to take still photos). You can record DNG still photos with both the X4S and the X5S...you can even have the Inspire record BOTH .jpg and .dng files at the same time. A major difference between the file type (other than their file size) is that .jpg images take the data that is "seen" by the sensor and process into a finished image for you. Common adjustments to sharpening, saturation, etc are all made to the image and then it gets some compression and is saved as a .jpg image format. A .dng file is unprocessed sensor data (RAW) and these file types require some processing to get them to a more polished and finished look. Doing this yourself (vs having standard processing and becoming a .jpg) gives the pilot / photographer more ability to get the finished look they want and more ability to adjust the highlights and shadows without losing detail. New pilots and photographers often ask why the .jpg images seem to look "better" or "sharper" than the .dng files - and that is simply because the .dng files need to be finished to look their best.

Hope this helps - if you need any more clarification just ask.
