is there a way to disable email notifications for previous threads?

ive unchecked the option in preferences and it seems to be working for new threads i comment on but every one before that is still bombarding me with loads of annoying emails! Is there an easy way to squash them all at once? thanks.
 
nobody? well I fixed it by creating a filter in my email to send them directly to the trash, hope they never send me an important email, ha!
 
I've turned off every notification under the sun and I still get bl**dy updates!
