Osmo Firmware Update

Exactly the same issue, down to the partial success percentage, the flashing screen "Success!" that then goes away (mine was more like a continuous strobe), green light, et al. Everything "seems" to be working again, but the firmware will not report as updated. Still on 1.0.1.19+

As you log file states, everything has been updated to the version on the microSD card. The plus sign suffix in the App about page suggests that you have not updated your App (latest 2.7.1 for iOS).

It says in the firmware release notes:
20. "Single video recordings in high temperatures are capped at 30 minutes to ensure video quality".

So the 30 minute maximum recording time is only in high temperatures on the OSMO, is it only in high temperatures in the I1 as well?
And what is considered high temperature?

Seems this temperature argument is fallacious: in all probability the 30 minutes limit has been implemented to avoid taxes in some countries where a legal difference is made between photo cameras and video camera (video cameras have higher taxes rates).

Yes of course thats the reason most likely. I was just interested to know if its only in high temperatures on the Inspire 1 as well, and what is considered a high temperature?

As usual DJI is vague in their explanations, most likely because what they tell you is not the correct reason for the changes.

I didn't update the DJI Go app before updating the OSMO myself (because I had to do an urgent job with the Inspire and I tend to be careful when everything works alright with an older firmware…)
But I've just updated the app right now and the «About» menu still shows version 1.0.1.19.
The update log was successful and it seems I got all the new functions. So it's a bit weird but not dramatic.

Same result for me: Updated via microSD card and 2.7.1 app says FW version is still 1.0.1.19+, with all new features active. One issue, though: I can't find the "Free" selection for the thumb controller in the menu. Anyone know where that function is hiding?

Thanks for your comments. As a result of your response I tested several of the new features and they did work ... those that I could actually observe. Still have the original version noted ... seems several users have same problem. We will see. Thanks

David - Upgrading from 1.0.1.19 to 01.05.02.00 using SD card approach. GO app current at 2.7.1. Upgrade progressed what appeared to be normal up to 95% (was monitoring with Go app on iPhone). At 95% it stayed ... did have a very quick flash screen message that upgrade completed successfully however reading was still 95%. I continued to wait for probably 45 more minutes ... no change. Decided to turn off Osmo and Go app ... restarted both (95% message gone) ... connected Wi-Fi ... Go app displayed start screen. However when I tapped the camera icon to enter the Go app ... indicated update no complete so stopped at that point. Osmo by itself was operating normally. Finally deleted Go app from iPhone, reloaded from app store and reconnected with Osmo ... appeared to be OK. When I checked on Osmo version still 1.0.1.19. Tried the redo of upgrade, downloaded firmware again, tried again but no action. Any suggestions? (Sorry for the long explanation) Thanks

Here's what I would do. I updated mine using the sd card that came with the osmo using the sd card method. I downloaded the file on my Mac book, extracted the bin file then inserted the sd card into my Mac and copied the bin file into the dcim folder.

Beforehand I formatted the card in the osmo so as I had a clean card and updated the Dji app on my iPhone 6s and make sure you have full battery

Then insert your sd card into the osmo with the gimbil locked and the osmo placed flat on a desk etc start it up and leave it alone
Mine took about 14 mins to update with no issues

At NO POINT did I log on to the Dji app as I don't think they have got that side of it right yet. I really think this makes a difference but might be wrong

When I got a solid green light on the left led I then turned it off and at that point left it alone for a minute and then I started up the osmo and connected to the app and all was well.
If this doesn't work I would reinstate the older firmware and start again

Can't find it either…

I tried several times. It finally worked after I reformatted the SD before putting the .bin on it.

The firmware on the SD card is identical to or older than the current firmware on the device.

I was running OSMO_FW_V01.04.01.80

I had exactly the same problem. It worked for me when I formatted the SD before putting the .bin file in the root directory. I contacted DJI after sales but got no sense from them. Keep trying; mine worked at the 3rd attempt!

Hello guys ! I am using the X3 from the Inspire with the OSMO. Everything worked fine until the last update of the Inspire, 1.7.0.90. After the firmware update, the drone works fine, but I have problems with OSMO, more exactly with the sound recorded on the videos....it is heard in slow motion, the voices are all distorted....anyone had this problem? I think the only updates I should make are for Inspire, I can't download and install firmware updates for OSMO, right ? Thanks....

OSMO FW 1.5.2.0
Major Updates

1. Consumption reduced, increasing Osmo battery life to 90 minutes for a total recording time of 70 minutes (80 minutes with Wi-Fi off).
2. Fan turns off automatically when recording video. To keep fan off during video recording, tap Mute Fan
in the Audio Control menu. When activated, the fan will only restart to prevent critical overheating.
3. Video downlink optimized for enhanced live streaming.
4. Added Digital Zoom Control when recording video at 720p, 1080p and 2.7K. Put two fingers on the screen and pinch to zoom out, open your fingers to zoom in, or switch on Digital Zoom Control for fine control.
5. Control of Osmo tilt and pan axis simultaneously added by setting the joystick control direction to Free.
6. Added Portrait option to optimize portrait photography.
7. Optimized D-Log and D-Cinelike colors.
8. Downloading of videos and photos to mobile devices now three times faster.
9. Continuous photo capture by holding down shutter button added.
10. Added a key combination to turn on/off Osmo Wi-Fi. Pull down the power switch while simultaneously pressing and holding the trigger then release the trigger. Wi-Fi is off when the system status LED blinks twice. Repeat to turn on Wi-Fi. The Osmo will operate for longer when taking timelapse photos without Wi-Fi.
11. Note appears in DJI GO when trying to connect to an Osmo that is already connected to another mobile device.
12. DJI GO now displays the current photo instead of a live preview when shooting timelapses.
13. Audio control optimized to avoid audio distortion when recording in noisy environments.
14. Audio data loss when using some Micro SD cards under class-10 or UHS-1 fixed.
15. Double capture of the same shot when shooting panorama fixed.
16. Gimbal drifting reduced.
17. Joystick control optimized.
18. Horizontal calibration data saves automatically after powering off.
19. Single video recordings in high temperatures are capped at 30 minutes to ensure video quality.

I maybe have the answer! Trust your Osmos; there are bugs in the DJI GO app which means that the it fails to recognise the update. Here is a reply to my mail from DJI Support:
"Dear Sebastian,

Thank you for contacting the DJI Support.

You should check in the LOG file if the update was successful. The App can be a little buggy in the way it will show a earlier firmware version.
You can also try to reinstall the app and reconnect to see if it keeps giving the older version.

But if the LOG says it is successful that should be alright, regardless of what the app says.

Thanks for choosing DJI.

Kind regards,

DJI Support EU
Stefan"
