Hey

Anyone know how I would re install the controller firmware? My slave controller is having issues seeing the master.

Can you do it with the Assistant app? Its not working when I use the Inspire cable fro ,USB to USB.

Cheers

If you mean the Remote Controller firmware, then power off the I2, power on your rc, connect it to your tablet and start DJI Go.

When you get the go fly screen (with pic of aircraft - make sure it's showing the I2), press and hold the 3 -'s icon in the top right corner for a couple of seconds then let go. That takes you to a firmware update screen for both aircraft and rc.

If the aircraft is powered on, you get the aircraft firmware options, if it's powered off you get the rc firmware options. You should have details of the current firmware version, and potentially options to update, downgrade or refresh depending on the firmware versions available. Choose your option and follow instructions on screen.....

hmmm... My I2 RC says None available after the recent update. There were warnings on the screen from DJI about proceeding that it might not roll back after the most recent one. I think they are wanting to stop rollbacks to keep NFZ locked down or hackers. Dunno.

Yep, I think they've removed the previous .0330 (I2) and ?? (RC) versions for rollback. However, I'm fairly sure you should have an option to refresh (or reinstall) the current firmware version.

If you're having issues with the slave seeing the master RC, then if you're close to each other try moving further apart. The signal apparently isn't always that great side-by-side, but should improve as you move away a little bit.

I tried the refresh of the RC firmware with the current version (You're right. It offers a refresh of it only.), but once the refresh download completed it asks you "To attach via RC USB to the USB on the I2 and click OK on the screen to continue." That's where it gets messy. Problem is once you unplug the screen to go to the I2 via USB off the RC you can't see what, if anything, has been done or doing since you have no screen. Sort of a messy job by DJI.

Probably have to wait for the next RC firmware to do anything with regards to a refresh the way it is currently written. Wish it could be done through Assistant 2 to the RC somehow as RC to Drone isn't working if you also need the screen (The smaller USB mini didn't work either as I tried it too.).

re "To attach via RC USB to the USB on the I2 and click OK on the screen to continue"
I have never seen this message in the DJI Assistant or the DJI GO 4 app with upgrading the I2 or any other DJI aircraft?
On the I2 and DJI GO 4 updating or refreshing the firmware on the RC it is done with the mobile device attached to the RC via the mobile device's USB cable only.
One the i2 and the DJI GO 4 app you download the firmware via the DJI Go 4 app and then connect the USB device cable from your mobile device (NOT the RC) to the aircraft and make sure the USB switch on the I2 is in the correct position. You NEVER connect the aircraft and RC together via a USB cable!

If using the PC based DJI Assistant you use the special USB A-A cable included by DJI with your I2 to upgrade the RC and aircraft by connecting your aircraft or RC to your PC running the DJI assistant

I need to try this again.

I got the Refresh wheel and 100%. Now it wants to connect to the bird from the iPad as you mentioned.

So is this updating the aircraft and not the RC which is what I want, or does it do both?

Screenshot coming...

Ugh! USB-A from PC Assistant 2 (Current) to RC's USB-A via the DJI cable, the unit doesn't connect. Windows 10 Device Manager won't pick up the RC either. Assistant 2 must be to bird only for it to open and not the RC?

So far, RC Refresh isn't going so well in last version.

That's asking you to update the I2 aircraft, not the RC. In order to update the RC you MUST have the aircraft turned off before entering the firmware update screen on the tablet otherwise it will show the aircraft firmware, not the RC's firmware options.

The order is:

Power DOWN the I2 and leave it off.
Power on the RC and connect it via the USB cable to your tablet.
Start DJI Go 4
Press and hold the 3-'s for a couple of secnds, then release it. It should tell you the firmware version of your RC. You then have the option to refresh/downgrade etc - but for the RC, not the I2. You should leave the tablet connected to the RC. I'm not aware it prompts you to connect the cable to the I2 for the RC refresh.
Once the firmware update is complete, power down and restart everything - tablet, DJI Go 4 and the RC.
When you power on the I2, you may need to relink the RC to the aircraft - follow the DJI instructions to do that *if* needed.

If you run through the firmware refresh of both the I2 and the RC:

Start with the aircraft powered up.
Power on the RC and connect it to the tablet via the USB cable
Start DJI Go 4
Press and hold the 3-'s for a couple of secnds, then release it. It should tell you the firmware version of your Inspire 2. You then have the option to refresh/downgrade etc - for the I2. You should leave the tablet connected to the RC until it prompts you to change it.
When prompted to connect to the aircraft, disconnect the tablet cable from the Remote and leave it plugged in to the tablet.
Plug the USB plug you've just disconnected into the Inspire 2's USB port and flick the switch next to it to the tablet position.
Then it will continue to do the firmware update.
Follow instructions on screen until it prompts you to plug it back in to the RC - then unplug it from the Inspire and connect the USB plug back to the RC unit.
Follow any further instructions on screen.

Thanks Nick.

Just tried this again (Argh!) and now the former "None" box shows 01.01.0001 in its place which has changed.

If I select the box now with 01.01.0001 up pops three versions now in a white screen that rolls for the selection. I picked 01.00.0210 (most recent), hit the blue "Save" and the RC. RC is beeping and downloading so YAY!

Download at 100%, beeping stops, and up pops "Device Disconnected" and "Select firmware version" is again showing "None" in the box. Only option here is the "X" to exit and back to GO 4 main screen. Shut off RC and GO 4.

Restarted RC and started up I2 and GO 4.

Normal blue "Checking Version number" on left and it says "Current." In GO 4, the same (and last and most current) RC version 01.01.0001 remains there. It did not refresh back to 01.00.0210 as downloaded.

Seems DJI will not allow RC rollbacks? Sounds like if the screen says "None" at any point, even if it allows you to do so later and tease you with former versions to download, they really mean "None" as it refuses to install and update the olders.

I dunno....

Right, so your I2 and one RC have the most current firmware version installed now. (You normally can downgrade, buy it may be that DJI is blocking previous versions on their servers now so that you can only get the latest one - there's been reports they've removed the older 'hackable' versions because people are starting to try to circumvent the login 'restriction'.)

So, that means you should now have an refreshed firmware on your RC. Now do the same for your other RC.... and they should both be on the same version (01.01.0001). Then go and see if you still have problems between the master and slave.

If you do still continue to have issues, then delete the DJI Go 4 app on both tablets and download them again from the appropriate app store (apple/google). Don't resync them from your computer. Once they're downloaded, start them up and recheck all your settings are as you normally have them set. Then go try and link the two controllers again.

Finally, make sure you don't operate with the two RC's right next to each other as, counter-intuitively, they don't get good communications if they're too close to each other.

Hope something of that lot helps...

Yeah, I'm suspecting even though I downloaded the old one and it prepared to install, once it finished the download and it saw this newer 01.01.0001 was already in the RC it stopped proceeding and threw up the "None" box and leaves the 01.01.0001 there.

Thinking about it, the new version numbers for both the drone and the RC both being zeros and ones is odd, and the bird ends in 10 and RC in 01. Good identifier for them. Guess that's the end of the rollbacks now.

Hopefully, the old download I tried didn't muck up the current one. The settings seem the same in GO 4 so maybe I'm good to go until the next firmware - which may be locked down too from rolling back.

Wonder if there are hidden 'Easter Eggs' in GO 4 that allow for rollbacks, or some means on the RC box itself that allows for a return to original firmware or something. Don't think DJI would ever mention if it did though.

Thanks anyways!
