When you want to get a picture of the whole town you grew up in but you’re not legally allowed to go that high with the drone, jump in the helicopter and go to 2000 feet. Is that considered cheating?

Ummm, if you've got a heli, just grab your DLSR and leave the drone home.

Seriously though, if the drone is free flying-no no.
If hand held, rotorcraft rules only apply.
Puzzling post.

I can see it now...... Man Accidently drops Drone from Helicopter window, Drone gets sucked into Rotor, Helicopter crashes.. Tomorrows paper "Drone Crashes Into Helicopter Killing Two"

Haha..

In the years before digital photography I've had photographers and videographers sitting in the rear seats of my helicopters accidently drop camera lens and film cartridges quite often. When digital appeared only camera lens wound up being accidently dropped. Heavy video cameras not mounted were usually tethered.
