Video problems

this is probably a stupid question but I'm not really into computers. I can watch videos on my iPad Air shot from my inspire and they look great. When I try to watch from my lap top they look really choppy. I'm shooting in 1080 any help would be greatly appreciated. My laptop is 7 years old maybe I need a new one if so any recommendations

Thats what happens to me when I try to watch 4k video shot from the inspire and watching on a 12 yr old I mac. Old machine cant process the video fast enough so I watch it in chunks.
