USA Commercial Drone Operators

I am currently scheduled to take my FAA Drome test on Thursday of next week wish me luck =).



I have been doing my research and studying and I had a thought in reference to hobby drone use.

I am FCC licensed Amature Radio operator and for all intensive purposes, Amature radio is a hobby. In fact, you can not operate commercially on Amature radio bands.

I was wondering if the FAA would ever adopt a similar approach and require ALL Drone pilots to be licensed regardless of hobby flying or commercial flying.

Hobbyists are required to register themselves if they are flying anything over .55 pounds.

It would be interesting to see the numbers of how many owners actually registered... and another number of those who never knew they should.
