I was wondering if it matters how far the pilot and camera operator can be a part during a job? Being disabled there might be some jobs where my wheelchair might not be able to get to but the pilot and I could be in radio contact to work out the best flight patterns.

Any opinions would be welcome!

In my experience it does matter to a degree. Once - I wanted to have cam operator close to video village as I needed to be about 100 yards away for optimum vlos positioning. It Cut out several times for them. We did have trees in btw us but not terribly dense and I was on top of a hill. We ended up having him come closer to me and we recorded the feed for playback. I think it matters what's between you and where you are in terms of interference.

I find problems start at about 30-50 yards (MMV/totally not scientific!). We use radio communication almost every time to work out flight plans, play by play, talk to visual observer, talk to subjects etc.
