Firmware Update v1.2.0.34

They don't owe us any explanation.

Really?

Advertised features not delivered. Then they Deliver those features on a cheaper product?

And no explaination required?

I believe you are to easy to please.

But the simple truth is they will never explain it.

No I'm not easy to please, far from it actually. Read some of my other posts regarding p3/inspire ish. I mean what features weren't included that were advertised?

Exactly, simple truth, they don't owe any one an explanation of any kind...maybe one day unisef will get into the uav business, but until then....

Well I hope all or most of the above will, like everyone else come along ASAP.

In the end, the difference between leaked information and what is finally delivered is, more often than not, considerably different. Yes, the news is exciting, but I'll patiently wait to see what it is when it finally arrives.

It wasn't all that long ago when people here, and on the DJI forum, were declaring that the Pilot app for iOS would never be delivered. Oops!

Which missing features? If you're referencing GroundStation (the most common one), note that it's not advertised as a feature of the Phantom 3, it's advertised as a feature of the SDK for third parties to use. The Inspire 1 is not currently wired up for SDK access, but I'd be willing to bet it will be once the SDK is enabled for the Phantom 3.

Kirk, I'm with you on that! Some features of it will be great and it woud be a nice gesture if DJI includes it in the next (or later) FW.

Agree....guess you need to buy a phantom 3 to get it...
Nope, even the Phantom 3 won't have it out of the box - they're leaving it to third-party apps via the SDK.
It seems likely that the SDK will be opened on the Inspire around the same time as the P3.

For instance, there's already an SDK-powered app on iOS called Autopilot for the P2V+. If the DJI SDK is worth anything, it should be little effort for the author to add compatibility with the P3.

Allowing aircraft initialize and take off from moving surface will be a good thing....

love the joe dirt quote, great line, applies to much in life.....

I have to admit im pretty disappointed in the actual features that are listed in the new firmware. I'm expecting DJI to really work hard on new features as well as improvements and fixes (which are very important when you have a 3k drone in the air).

Im not sure why we are not seeing info about the following

  • Groundstation (way point system)
  • POI (point of interest)
I may be missing a few, I just woke up and having my first cup of coffee while I stair outside the window to see fresh snow on my desk in Tahoe City...

Better fix existing things before thinking about adding more.

People who have problems with their machine at the moment would crucify you on the spot if you suggested fixing their problem should have to wait for your the new features you want to be implemented first...

You do know that I mentioned fixes which are very important in my post right?

Yes. And the info posted in this thread relates to one particular firmware version which is the next to come.
As fixes are required this update will do fixes, and it's normal and expected for the new features you talk of not to be part of it.

To be fair, they do have info on it: The DJI SDK

They seem to be offloading that functionality onto third-party apps. I firmly believe they should incorporate something that's usable, even as basic as it was on P2V's, but I wouldn't bother holding your breath.

Thanks for posting this. I have faith that we will have waypoints & POI sometime, by somebody.
Yes, in a perfect world it wouldn't be via a 3rd party and would be integrated into the Pilot app...but as my 5yr old recently said.."Dad, life's pretty great. But it's not perfect".
