Function of Rear Plate

Wondering if anyone knows what the screwed on plate is at the rear of the battery compartment. I assume its just an extra brace with no electrical/gps/wifi function but would like to know for sure. Considering the area as a mounting point for a extension to add a POV camera but don't want to add trouble.

Not inspire camera quality for sure but fun for POV.

Needs additional goPro items to finish but light weight and configurable.

Have not flown mine yet but will tomorrow I hope.
