yes to the getterbacks. I wanted waterbuoys, but they don't seem to exist anymore. my old quad had noodle floats, but they looked incredibly rubbish. this solution is better (if placed in a sensible spot). at least i can then be repaired.

as for flying in front of the face, yes you're never going to attempt that unless you're sitting in the boat and can very quickly judge the distances. but for me it's far too risky, and I don't trust my piloting enough.

Yup, pushed to the max I was at full speed trying to keep up with the boat.

Totally. I need to show my video to some of the more local pros and see if I can get them out and for a shoot day. As for filming from the sides and backwards, it just takes practice. Lot's of flight time, not from a boat

Happens all the time but doesn't tend to make for very interesting viewing I find. You just end up watching lots of water!
