Flying an I1 for two years with an X3 Camera
for video. Mainly for telecast and web productions.

The video looks fine but have heard a lot about the
X5 and X5r shooting better video. Is it worth the
Investment to upgrade and will the video look that
much better?

Thanks for the help.

Although the x5 has a better contrast ratio, it has the same bitrate as the x3 and will still suffer from the same video degradation when moving fast or the shimmering you get from grasses or tree branches.

The x5r will give you improved video but with the release of the I2 it's now old technology plus the memory cards for it are rediculously overpriced. If you can use what you have for another year, the price of the I2 should come down by then.

Thanks for the advice. I'll wait for the NBT.
I really enjoy flying the
I1, stable platform and the X3 shoots good video.
Usually shoot a high ratio so always get a few good
seconds..which is all you need.
Still have a P1 and learned to fly on it. The P series
For me does have performance drawbacks for video.
I had to install longer landing gear, for stable landings
so the bird wouldn't roll over. Had to be careful to keep
the landing extensions out of the shot.
Also, had to install prop guards in case of roll over.
The I1 moves the gear up out of the shot and gives
you a nice unobstructed view.
Again, thanks for the help. Really enjoy this forum.
Happy New Year.
